The
NW corner, Wood Lane / Uxbridge rd junction of Shepherds Bush
Green
This
junction is now considered finished and there is a problem.
The
problem is that the cycle crossing leads directly into a public
convenience - admittedly disused. This edifice houses an electricity
sub-station. Highways says any changes to this are to be considered
as works on the Green and not as part of this junction. It cannot
be moved. Tricky. It is unlikely that the situation will change
before the end of 2005.
Late
2005: In the CRISP process for SBG the plan is to send cyclists
to the north of the toilet block, ie to the left as seen in
this image. Coming from the Common, it will be particularly
dangerous, as it is on a blind corner, you cross the kerbline
at about 20 degrees, and the space is used by pedestrians. see
http://www.hfcyclists.org.uk/SBGfinal.htm
Another
problem has now been dealt with. The feeder lane to an ASL [Advanced
Stop Line] had originally been put on the right as in this picture.
We argued that it would be more appropriate and safer on the
left. Fortunately it was changed.
See
our appraisal of the Goldhawk rd junction and our suggestion
that it be made shared use.
