clip of the GREENFEST 2008. Last year GREENFEST was the best FREE party of the year. GREENFEST 2009 will be. Both a lovely way to spend an afternoon beside the river, and a chance to discover some stuff about the environment, cycling and the local community.
There will be over 50 environment and community groups for you to meet. [These are listed under the stalls tab]. We encourage all the stalls to be interactive and engaging. Many stalls have things for kids to do, like painting cotton bags they can take away, or potting up baby plants to be taken and grown at home. Also there are attractions like Kite Studios encouraging the creativity of kids. As we are beside the river Thames we will be having a fish tank wiith fish caught in the last few days by the Environment Agency survey ship. And Thames Discovery will be showing archeological finds from the foreshore. And you can enjoy watching of an old country bodger at work. And Latymer Prep are bringing their brooder, so you can see chicks hatching.
We have some selected stalls where for example you can buy herbs, fairtrade goods, sustainable outdoor furniture and some hard to find things. Also a few delicious food stalls. We encourage you to come by bike. [cycling tab] For those who do not ride regularly, you will be able to see if you can still ride, and you can try out child trailers and child seats courtesy Go Pedal and DutchBaby. At 4.45pm the Ramblers are organising 4 mile walk along the Thames ending with food and drink in a pub in Barnes.
The music line up includes Havana Good Time, Sean Taylor, Rocket Number 9, Taxi Pata Pata. BRING a picnic, bring your friends, and make it a day to remember. If you are into such things, PLEASE join our facebook group, and attend our facebook event and spread the word. We will update this site regularly. Meanwhile TRY the QUIZ on our quiz page. If you wish to be involved with the festival or to help in any way please contact us. The GREENFEST is organised by hfcyclists, the local branch of the London Cycling Campaign, and other volunteers. We are grateful for funding from London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham and from Grassroots Grants made available by the Thames Community Foundation
