THE RIDE WITH COUNCILLORS - NOW THE WAY FORWARD

The ride went very well. Although it was at 9.30am on a weekday, which excluded many of our members from coming, the group including 5 LCC members was of a convenient size to hear each other talking. Chris Bainbridge is due to meet with Cllr Victoria Brocklebank-Fowler in the coming week, so we should hear some of the Councillors' views after that. We will consider how to proceed after that.

Tonight our group gave a vote of thanks to the Councillors Nick Botterill and Victoria Brocklebank-Fowler for participating in the ride. John will write to them expressing our thanks. John will also invite them to Roger's garden party, and express hope of future contact with them.

The MP for the area, Andrew Slaughter has also offered his support for the campaign for 20mph on the bridge.

Last time we talked about ordering yellow vests that would be printed with an image and wording suggesting "take the lane" on Hammersmith Bridge. Alexis has sent a rough drawing to John, and John is also working on a design. But we will see what the response is from the Councillors before proceeding.

OTHER THINGS CONCERNING LBHF.

Matt Veale of LBHF is in the process of finally putting in a ramp outside the Shepherds Bush Central line station for cyclists to gain access to the Toucan crossing of the A3220, which runs up from the Holland Park roundabout.

When Shepherds Bush Green is finished there should be cycle tracks around the perimeter.

David brought up the problem of the difficulty of cycling along Margravine Gardens. This is caused by cars parking on both sides of the road, and particularly by Barons Court Station where there is parking on one side and cycle racks on a build-out on the other. At least cyclists have the option of transferring to the footway, whereas car drivers do not have that option.
