HFCYCLISTS
MEETING PRESENT: John Griffiths, Alan Rowden, Bernard Bunting APOLOGIES: Alex Forrest, Chris Bainbridge, Simon Franklin, Mark Alderton, Rick Boardman, John Gilbert, Mo Morgan, Bill Ogden, Roger de Freitas. NEW MEMBER It was good to meet Bernard Bunting who had come along to the festival. He showed great enthusiasm about being actively involved in the group. Alan and I told him how the group operated and some of our shortcomings and aspirations. Aspirations like a really thriving group with worked shared by several activists, rides and parties throughout the night, a really cycle friendly borough. Bernard confessed to some skills in promotion and getting things going. OYBIKE The bikes are present on the streets but not yet operational. Apparently it will start soon with non-paying testers, Council employees for example. Simon Franklin and I were interviewed on this subject at a very early hour this morning. We each had small sound bites on Radio London 94.9FM. SBG, HAMMERSMITH GYRATORY and the BRIDGE Simon Franklin told me this morning that the Council are obtaining costings on various options. Still no meetings with the consultants. Perhaps a CRISP process will start soon. [cycle route inspection stakeholder plan, or the like, part of the functioning of the London Cycling Network Plus, whereby we might get a look in.] A meeting of the LCN+ NW sector [Borough cycling officers and consultants and TfL people] was meant to be taking place on Wednesday of this week but has been postponed. It is from such meetings that we have gleaned information on these schemes. CYCLE PARKING AT CHARING CROSS HOSPITAL Some very high quality cycle parking has been put in for visitors at the hospital. Cllr Charlie Boyle had some input into this happening. THE TRAM A consultation process is beginning on the tram. TfL would like approval for the project. The detailed plans for Shepherds Bush Green, once lodged in local libraries have been removed. I had a meeting with Dave Wetzel, vice chair of TfL, last Friday and brought this up. He found out that the reason that the plans had been withdrawn was that some right turns were being removed from SBG, and the plans for the Southall depot were being revised. The plans should be back in the libraries soon. The plans that were removed look less cyclist-friendly than at present. The consultation needs to be returned by October 8th. ROGER'S SUMMER GARDEN PARTY The umpteenth
