122c Edith road, W14 9AP

APOLOGIES:

1] FULHAM FC PLANNING APPLICATION

John will file an objection in the name of the group saying that more cycle parking is required if the project is to go ahead. Every one is welcome to submit their own objection.

2] CENTRAL LCC MATTERS

Details of the "Go Dutch: clear space for cycling on London's main roads" campaign. aimed at getting Candidates for London Mayor to commit to better conditions for cyclists, can be found on the LCC website, http://lcc.org.uk/pages/go-dutch

3] RECENT THINGS CONCERNING LBHF.

In the last few days there has been some correspondence between some others and myself and Chris Bainbridge concerning the area around the busgate approaching Hammersmith Bridge on Hammersmith Bridge rd. Chris has been to look at the area twice in the last few days. There is a perceived problem of cyclists taken off the road at the busgate not being provided with a way back onto the road. There is the Toucan crossing further down, which means some shared space.

If users of this area want to report back any problems they have we can make a case for some further action, or perhaps arrange a discussion with lbhf if it is warranted.

Chris hopes that there may be some way to make the busgate cycle-friendly, or even to remove the bus gate completely.

This area is also a spur off the Cycling Super Highway 9 going to Hammersmith Bridge and points beyond. John will try to contact Tfl people to get this area included in the design works for the CSH9, which may be a year or two or a bit more in coming.

NEW IMPERIAL COLLEGE BUILDING

Susie live near the new Imperial College building being constructed on Wood Lane at the site of the former BBC worldwide centre. She is worried about the dangers to cyclists crossing the traffic of Wood Lane to enter or leave the premises. Susie will pursue this to see if anything is being done to make things safer.

ROAD PROBLEMS IN LBHF

David pointed out a dangerous area on the corner by the Novotel, on the corner of the A4 and Shortlands. This was backed up by Sima. David to write to Chris Bainbridge about it. chris.bainbridge@lbhf.gov.uk

John has a problem with a sunken drain on North End road, in the north bound lane by the bus stop close to West Kensington Stn

Sima had a problem with the very poor road surface on Shepherds bush rd as you start to go North from the Gyratory. Also at some places on the New Kings rd. Sima to write in about that and other problems.

If you know of one that needs attention and is a hazard to cyclists you could send an email to chris.bainbridge@lbhf.gov.uk and donna.kelly@lbhf.gov.uk giving as much detail as possible and stating if it is a particular hazard for cyclists, ie in their normal path or near a junction. Donna is in charge of getting them inspected and seen to.

Loretta says she fills in the form on the LBHF website.

CYCLE PARKING

Janusz wants more cycle parking in parts of Fulham. He will send an email to Chris Bainbridge explaining where he has in mind. Please do the same if you know of places suitable for the installation of Sheffield stands.

4] HOW PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO BE INVOLVED IN OUR GROUP

Janusz is prepared to co-ordinate rides. Compared to some other groups this group is very poor at organising rides, and going on them.
So if you are interested in going on a ride please send an email to Janusz januszcarmello@hotmail.com saying what type of ride you are interested, and what days and times suit you. And if you are prepared to lead a ride, or help in leading a ride, please contact Januz to see what can be done. This is not meant to stop you organising your own ride, but to complement it, and slowly move us up to being the best rides group in London.

5] RIDES, EVENTS, ETC?

Susie and David are planning a ride to go to few places of interest in the Borough. Like old buildings, taking in perhaps Fulham Palace and Kelmscott House and a pub or two. If you have any suggestions for further stops on such an itinerary please contact Susie, especially if you know where the thinnest house in the borough is. Susie on susannagretz@mypostoffice.co.uk

6] EXPENSES
John had expenses of £10.80 for webhosting charges and £33.50 for refreshments. Total £44.30. Thanks to Loretta for the Cake she brought.

7] DATE / PLACE NEXT MEETING

Tuesday 3d April, 7.15 for 7.30pm. Place to be decided later.
