TOUR DE FRANCE,
7th July prologue, arrangements
We will meet at Ravenscourt Park for 11am departure for ride to Hyde Park.
Several people have already expressed interest in being involved. I have
invited the LBHF Mayor to join us.
PARKING IN CYCLE LANES, any
updates.
At Monday's [2 April] Cleaner and Greener Scrutiny Committee [CGSC] meeting
Graeme Swinburne, Chris Bainbridge and Stacey Amey of lbhf gave a presentation
on parking. John raised problems of vehicle parking on the cycle track
at Wandsworth Bridge during car auctions, and of wrongful parking in cycle
lanes. We have raised these issues many times before with officers and
nothing decisive appears to happen. John followed this up with a background
email to Cllr Eugenie White, chair of CGSC, today. Eugenie has replied,
and Graeme Swinburne has forwarded the email to David Turner of Parking
to discuss when David returns from leave.
GREENFEST - West London -Sunday
17 June in Furnival Gardens
see www.greenfest.org.uk
Things going well, with many
aspects under control. Finance hopefully sorted, but later than one would
have wished for. For music we hope to have Havana Good Time, 3 Daft Monkeys,
Taxi Pata Pata, Lu's drummers.
Henrietta, Zuzana, Julie, Stephanie,
Bjorn, and others have been very helpful with input. Next planning meeting
Thursday 12 April 6pm. Contact john [as below] if interested.
Julie and Louanne involved
with the Fairtrade fashion show that Charlotte is organising for the day.
KING STREET STAGE 3 - (Macbeth
Street to Nigel Playfair Avenue).
John has received an email
and drawing about this last stage of the works. Contact john for a copy,
should you wish to make a comment.
Julie said that with last stage
the gaps in the cycle track no longer correspond to right turns one might
wish to make.
MONEY FOR SMALL SCHEMES
Simon Franklin is about to bid for local cycle scheme money from TfL.
This may be spent on cycle stands and training, but there may also be
some small changes to the road layout which may make a difference to cyclists
- such as the dropped kerb near Stamford Brook Avenue or a link through
a park.
Any suggestions for small schemes
to Simon up to the 18th May to make the timetable for this year's bid.
